Monster Mania Con a blast for Sunbury Press horror authors Malafarina, Jordan and Rommel
Cherry Hill, NJ – Monster Mania Con was held at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Cherry Hill, NJ from Friday August 16th through Sunday August 18th, 2013. Sunbury Press utilized its vendor space to promote the horror category. Thomas Malafarina, Catherine Jordan and Keith Rommel were present to meet the crowds and sign free copies of their books. The convention featured such celebrities as: Carrie Fisher, George Romero, Christopher Lloyd, Danny Glover, Malcolm McDowell, Sam Witwer, Meaghan Rath, Sam Huntington, Jessica Clark, Claire Coffee, Chandler Riggs,
Dick Warlock, Gary Busey, and many more…
Thomas Malafarina gave away dozens of his books including Fallen Stones, Ghost Shadows, 13 Nasty Endings, 99 Souls, Eye Contact and Gallery of Horror. Tom was very pleased to meet some fans who were familiar with his work.
Catherine Jordan promoted her debut novel Seeking Samiel to her female target audience. Dozens of copies of her book found enthusiastic readers as well of piles of bookmarks.
Keith Rommel promoted his novel The Cursed Man, now in the works as a major motion picture. The booth also displayed a large poster, postcards and buttons regarding the movie. Keith was careful to give his signed copies to readers who promised to talk about his book and/or write a review. Lots of patrons picked up buttons and cards, too. Keith was also fortunate to meet representatives from Fangoria magazine, who promised to follow up with a book review and coverage of the movie, as it is being released.
In all, it was a very successful weekend for Sunbury Press and the authors, who got to meet their target audience in person — by the hundreds.

“Twilight of the Drifter” grabs #1 spot in print – Tom Malafarina rules eBooks – but sales are soft!
Camp Hill, PA – “Twilight of the Drifter”, novelist Shelly Frome’s “Southern Gothic” crime story, took the top spot in print thanks to author events. Thomas Malafarina’s horror novel, 99 Souls, about a cursed coal mine in the Coal Region of Pennsylvania led all eBook downloads due to a strong Kindle free download promotion. William Lemanski’s biography of Kermit Roosevelt, “Lost in the Shadow of Fame,” debuted at #2 in print. Thomas Malafarina’s short story compilation “13 Nasty Endings” nabbed #2 in eBooks. Nonfiction books captured seven of the top ten spots in print. Fiction took eight of ten eBooks.
Carol Schultz Vento’s “The Hidden Legacy of World War II” about her famous father’s post-war struggles and family life and Charles K Godfrey’s Gettysburg Civil War re-enactment fantasy sold well in print thanks to author events.
Joyce Anne Nicholls’ “The Last Egyptian Mamluk” debuted at #5 due to brisk bookstore sales upon release.
Milo Thornberry’s “Fireproof Moth”, Guy Graybill’s moonshine books “Prohibition’s Prince” and “Prince and the Paupers, ” Bob Ford’s “Beagle Tales 2,” and Farrell and Farley’s “Keystone Tombstones Volume 1” rounded out the top 10 in print.
Vento’s “The Hidden Legacy of World War II,” Frome’s “Twilight of the Drifter,” and Thornberry’s “Fireproof Moth” also garnered top spots in eBooks.
Paul Argentini’s “The Fourth Nail” and Jackson Holiday’s “Who Sh*t in my Zen Garden” continued in the top ten eBooks.
Keith Rommel’s horror classic “The Cursed Man,” being considered as a movie, returned to the list along with Bob Wood’s “Sage” and L D Knorr’s “The Leviticus Mission.”
Sunbury Press has experienced softer sales at the outset of 2012 as consumers trade print for eBooks and seem to be buying a bit less overall. Year to Date, sales were down 28%, but eBook sales are up nearly 5x. Possibly, there is a glut of downloads on eReaders following the Christmas boom. March is also traditionally a slow month for book sales, so a down first quarter is expected.

Guy Graybill is Prince! Sunbury Press Book Awards for 2010
Lemoyne, PA – Sunbury Press, Inc. has released its bestseller list for the year 2010. Sales, year over year, have quintupled. The company released 38 new books during the year, and signed 23 new authors. The History category performed best, notching 4 of the top 6 spots, and 5 of the top 10. Five new releases are slated for this January.
Prohibition’s Prince: The Bizarre Life of America’s Millionaire Moonshiner, a recently released biography by Guy Graybill about Prince Farrington, a famous bootlegger from the early 20th century, was the company’s best-selling book for the year, followed by the company’s top-selling book all-time – Chris Femwick’s the 100th human – a metaphysical tale about the ‘end of days’ of the Mayan calendar, December 21, 2012.
Guy Graybill, the author of Prohibition’s Prince, was named Author of the Year for 2010 by Sunbury Press. The book was by far and away the bestselling book for the trade publisher based in Lemoyne, on the west shore of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

To say Tom Malafarina knows what his readers want, wouldn’t serve justice. Ninety-Nine Souls ignites that creeping essence we seek from horror and Malafarina shows us he has no boundaries.
Buy the book, grab a beer and tell the significant other to keep the refills coming. Seldom do I read a novel twice, but this one deserves an extra star.

About Thomas Malafarina:
Thomas M. Malafarina was born July 23, 1955 in the town of Ashland, Pennsylvania, in the heart of the hard coal region. He was raised in a small, wood-framed row house along with his parents, his younger brother and two older sisters. Growing up in this blue-collar community Thomas learned the importance of hard work and dedication to family. These values instilled by his parents guided him through to his adult life.
Thomas has enjoyed a life-long love of writing, music and art and has been intrigued by the world of horror since before elementary school. While other kids were assembling model airplanes and cars, Thomas preferred to build Aurora Universal Studios Monster models of Frankenstein’s monster, the Wolf Man, Dracula and others. While others were drawing pictures of flowers and trees, he was drawing horrible monsters.
Thomas continued his love of all things horror by amassing an extensive collection of horror movies and books. Every year Thomas uses his artistic skills to create and donate a truckload or more of disturbing horror art sculptures and scenery to the Womelsdorf JC’s annual non-profit “Barn of Terror” Halloween Haunt.
For many years while working as a manufacturing engineer, technical trainer and technical writer, Thomas dreamed of finding some extra time write a horror novel. Ninety-Nine Souls is Thomas’s first book and is the culmination of that dream but signifies much more. It symbolizes a rekindled love Thomas has for writing and an enjoyment of creating horror stories that had burned deep within him unfulfilled for far too many years. Now with the flame relit, Thomas plans to produce many more works of horror fiction for the horror loving public’s enjoyment.
Thomas lives in South Heidelberg Township, just outside of Wernersville, PA with his wife JoAnne. They have three grown children and three grandchildren.
