Fantastic NEWS!! My publisher, Sunbury Press announced the creation of a new imprint under the Sunbury umbrella, which will be dedicated to Horror Fiction, Sci-Fi and Fantasy.
The new imprint will be called Hellbender Books and will play host to horror authors such as Keith Rommel, Catherine Jordan, myself and others. From this day forward, all of my books will be under the Hellbender Books imprint.
To say I’m thrilled with this latest amazing development from Sunbury Press is an understatement. Look for the logo above for the absolute best in horror fiction from HELLBENDER BOOKS.
2017 has been a very busy year so far with three reworked books out earlier this year from Sunbury Press, “13 Deadly Endings”, “What Waits Beneath” and “Burner”. Looming on the horizon are two more novels, “From The Dark” and “Circle of Blood” as well as short story collections “Malaformed Realities Vol. 2” and “Vol. 3”
Later this year or early 2018 will see the release of “Dead Kill Book 2: The Ridge of War”, the third in my Dead Kill series. In addition, I will be starting a new series, “Death Bringer Jones, Zombie Slayer”. If that isn’t enough, later in 2018 we’ll be releasing “Malaformed Realities Vol. 4″ and quite possibly Vol 5”. With well over one hundred short stories in the pipeline and many, many more to come there will always be a backlog of work waiting for the “Realities” short story series.
Check out the Bibliography page of this site for more detailed accounting of where you can find my various books and short stories.
People often ask me just how many books I’ve written and how many anthologies, magazines and such I’ve been involved in since I started publishing back in 2010. The answer is… a whole bunch. So here’s my brag shelves. I try to get a physical copy of everywhere I’m published but often miss a few, especially in the case of publications that are strictly e-books. But all in all it’s not to shabby a collection. It also is constantly growing. As of this writing, or at any time there are probably 10 or more anthologies in the works waiting to be published, which will eventually make it to my shelves. The book markers denote where in the anthologies my stories appear. Some anthologies have multiple stories of mine in them as well.
Wow! I’m telling you. I’ve been way to busy for a part-time author with a full-time day job and family obligations, not to mention being a weekend-warrior in a two blues bands. I just finished final review of three new books coming soon from Sunbury Press. Actually they are re-writes and re-edits of my first three books.
I originally wrote the books, “99 Souls”, “Thirteen Nasty Endings” and “Burn Phone” and published them back in 2010. I thought after five years it might be a good idea to rework these books using the improved skills I’ve hopefully developed over the past five years. (I know it’s actually 6 years but I started reworking these back in 2015).
Also, many of the reviews of my early work praise the stories but come down hard (rightfully so) on the less than desirable editing. As a result the newly released books will also have new titles and new covers. They’ll be called “It Waits Below” (formerly “99 Souls”), “Thirteen Deadly Endings” and “Burner” (both self explanatory).
In addition to these I’ve been working on tons of new short stories as well as the third book in my “Dead Kill” series and starting another series which is s a spin-off from Dead Kill II.
If that wasn’t bad enough, I’m also reworking my novel “Eye Contact” as “Fallen Stones”.
Somewhere in the middle of all of this we will be releasing two more short story collections, “Malaformed Realities Vol 2 and Vol 3”.
So hold onto your hats Malcontents wherever you are because 2017 is going to be an amazing year for books from yours truly.
Good news for all you Malcontents out there. The latest book in my Dead Kill zombie series, “Dead Kill Book 2: The Ridge of Change” has been officially released and is now available at both the Sunbury Press website http://www.sunburypressstore.com/Dead-Kill-Book-Two-The-Ridge-of-Change-9781620066713.htm?categoryId=-1 in paperback, as well as on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Ridge-Change-Dead-Kill/dp/1620066718 in both paperback and Kindle formats.
This picks up a few months after the place where Dead Kill Book 1: The Ridge Of Death left off. I would, of course recommend reading Book 1 first. Even though Book 2 is a separate story, if you haven’t read the first book there are DK 1 references which will be spoilers but were necessary in order to properly establish the scenes for book 2.
I hope all you Malcontents enjoy my latest release. Look for several other of my releases and re-releases coming in 2016.
READING, Pa. — Sunbury Press has released Thomas Malafarinas latest novel, Dead Kill Volume 2: The Ridge of Change, post-apocalyptic fiction about survival under grim circumstances.
About the Book:
It’s 2054. Ten years since the Zombie virus of 2043 struck. Although all are infected, humanity has learned to deal with the dead and reduced their numbers to being no more than a nuisance. But like mankind, viruses need to do what they must to survive. Change and mutation is the survival mechanism of viruses. Author Thomas M Malafarina continues his Dead Kill series withDead Kill Book 2: The Ridge Of Change.
What Others Are Saying:
“Thomas Malafarina writes with a visual artist’s eye for detail and design and revels in the same exuberant flourishes for violence and tableaus of flesh as Clive Barker, all the while working the clichés and conventions of the horror genre bravely and unabashedly. Though he has created his own King-like milieu in and around his native Schuylkill County (PA), Malafarina shares Lovecraft’s cosmic vision and torment of inner and outer space and he designs philosophically laden set pieces that thoroughly dissect the minutia of man as if he were just another sentient being in a violent and insatiable cosmos (and a clumsy one at that), a doomed soul wracked with mental anguish and ripe for the picking from the evils of the universe, just another chapter in an ancient taxonomy. Tom’s novels continue to grow in scope and ambition – he is a veritable talent to watch (and read)!” — George Andrade – Horror News
“Thomas M. Malafarina is the kind of writer I aspire to be. Like a visionary painter, creates mood in the landscape of dread, strong emotions with characters you care for, and suspense that causes a reader’s nails to dig deep into their own legs. Stories cut from a cloth of originality that is Thomas M. Malafarina.” — Mark Slade – Nightmare Illustrated Magazine
“Malafarina’s vision into a world where zombies are nearly eradicated is fresh and savagely satisfying, making this a must read.” — Keith Rommel – Author of “The Cursed Man”
Jackson Ridge was terrified beyond all human understanding. He didn’t dare let even so much as a single breath escape from his tightly pursed lips while the mangled reanimated remains of what was once the Yuengsville Chief of Police, Brent Holden slowly trudged across the dirt barn floor toward him. Jackson was bound tightly with heavy bull rope and was unable to move. As if that were not a futile enough situation, large spikes had been driven through his palms crucifying him to a thick, heavy wooden crossbeam in the horrifying barn turned death chamber. In the distance, not very far away he could hear the moans of the other undead creatures milling about in the unseen pit he knew was there. He could smell their foul reeking stench. He wondered if they could likewise smell the warmth of his own blood coursing through his veins. And might the vile beasts possibly find a way to escape from their own prison and come for him? But he knew by then it would be far too late for him anyway.
Only minutes earlier Jackson had watched as the dead police chief had transformed into a savage, flesh-craving zombie. The ungainly clumsy creature had stumbled to rise, placing its twisted hands on the side cross rails of the barn stalls, using them to help it stand upright. Then the living dead thing had looked directly at Jackson. Its eyes had no longer held the same look of hatred, which living Brent Holden’s contemptuous eyes had once reserved for Jackson. Now they conveyed something that he realized was far, far worse. Now they held a look of insatiable hunger in those deathly filmy orbs. A single glance at those hideous undead hungry eyes was enough to cause all of the breath to leave Jackson’s lungs in one unwelcome gasp of terrified exhalation.
